Resolved: Southern Refrigerated Transport - Be smart don't work for SRT
I came to southern refrigerated transport needing employment, it was a week before christmas and my savings was gone and the bills where way overdue. I told the recruiter my background was not the best and it would be better for me if she would fax me all the release forms she needed signed and i would fax them back so they could do all there background checks on me before I went to orientation in Texarkana Ar. she did and three days later she offered me a bus tickett to texarkana, they told me everything checked out and Southern refrigerated transport has a job for me. so with very little money I went. When I arrived I had to walk to the hotel from the buss station because they offered no transportation, the next four day was real bad filling out document after document, papers I thought had nothing to do with hiring on to a trucking company I have been driving for ten years some of it was small regional companies they said if it was not 48 states it would not be counted as over the road and would only pay me 1.5 years experience. also they had not done any background search on me intel I was there. I felt they went way beyond what the D.O.T requires for history I had to explain in writing everything and everywhere for the past ten years to the day they required me to have signed documents from other people with their addresses and phone numbers verifying everything I told them I also signed a paper stating that if I left the company anytime in less than six months the cost of orientation would be charged back to me. on the last day I was given a employment number and a truck the job was mine I thought. they dispatched me from texarkana ar the next day to Brownsville tx I was to stop in Houston tx on the way and pick up the things I need from home (ie) TV/DVD, REFRIGERATOR, MICROWAVE, TOOLS and other things. Approx four days later I was told to give my load to another driver in Dallas tx and drive empty back to SRT in texarkana when I arrived I was informed that they had found some information in my background that I had not put on my application and I was fired they said I would get a buss tickett home but all my property was my problem I had no money and had to leave it there or give it away. I was there less than six months so the money they owed me they took back for orientation. I had about 1,200$ worth of property I had to leave behind and I spent about 150.00$ on road expenses so it was very costly to learn that( SOUTHERN REFRIGERATED TRANSPORT) is a very bad company.

Your fault if you don't disclose everything.....it's not the Company's fault it must have been something really bad in order for them to fire you
Thank you John for sharing your story and to think I wanted to drive for them good luck hope you find a good job
Informative commentary ! my colleagues earlier today learned about http://pdf.ac/3uWnqE to import pdf !
It's comparatively straightforward to get the hang of and it's fast . I know they will give a 7 day promotion currently
I'm also surprised at truck drivers who spend all their money on like peanuts, don't care about saving some money away. i'm sorry to say this but it happened to my boyfriend who lost his job as a truck driver and got so penniless expecting me to help him with bills.
always advised him to save some money in case of any trouble he even got sick blood sugar very high and no medical insurance, no house staying inside company truck... sucks!!!!!
Annonymous
So you had something bad in your background YOU WERE HIDING FROM THEM, you got caught and it is THEIR FAULT? lmao !
Yeah, right, you forgot about the felony!!
It amazes me how many truck drivers show up to orientation with no money. Every hear of savingg some money?
Saw a guy at orientation 75lbs over weight crying because he was going to "starve" lol. He was months away from starving!
SrT Trucking/ Covenant Transport Group is a completely immoral company to work for. Actions against me criminal menacing, DOT erd fraud.
Employee pay theft.
Hippa violation with regard to health insurance availability. Attempted aggravated assault by forced to operate a disabiled vehicle.
Thanks for the reviews I was about to call them for employment ,not anymore.
You are so full of *** about srt I've been with SRT 4 months soon as I got off bus the cab took me to hotel which was bad *** first day of orientation they were all super nice Fed me 3 times a day never once did I feel talked down to as in back ground checks I've got felonies more than one they gave me a chance I got a 2014 kenworth my paycheck is 1200 to 1800 every week my dispatcher is awesome check me out my name is Robert Linnabury driver id 155**** my truck number is 141100 I'm still here I ain't going anywhere 7-30-2014 my daughter works here to the company is badass so it must be you
I wrote this seven years ago you ignorant *** and I am glad you found a home that you will dedicate your life to maybe they have learned a few thing on how to retain drivers. My situation was mine and yours seems to be different. That's good just remember when they are done with you they will leave you out in the cold and not loose a minute sleep.
It's spelled lose not loose you ignorant ***.
I wrote the above review December 2007 That will be seven years ago this December. I am glad You and your daughter have found a home with SRT and it works for you.
It sounds like SRT may have removed some of the personnel that managed the recruitment and hiring process, because seven years ago it was Draconian and Orwellian experience for me. I remember the office manger as a real Nazi and not understanding of past mistakes.
The requirements where excessive and extreme. Again that was my experience years ago and its good that you posted your experience to let Drivers know things change People and Company's
If your truck is 141100 that would be a freight liner not a kw
That truck number is not to a kW it is to a freightliner
Since your experience with SRT seems to be so good maybe you can help me out a little bit. My husband has been with SRT approximately 4 months now first two paychecks or good comparatively speaking $500 1 week and $700 in the next week however every paycheck since then has been less than $200 per week. So since your paycheck seem to be so great can you kind of tell me what's causing my husband's paycheck to only be $100 a week?
Taking to many advances maybe, not turning in receipts.
I am glad I read your review , I was tempted to call them , Thank you. For giving me a chance to notbgo to srt. Anonymous
I'm noticing on my research on SRT most of the negative comments are poorly spelled, improper grammar and excessive cursing whereas the calm, cool and collected comments about the company are fairly well written. Not sure that proves much but it's easier to take an seemingly intelligent persons word for something over someone who seems barely educated. Haven't yet decided if I'll apply, but leaning towards it
You haven't heard about Raymond White?
If they can spell or not, they know how they were treated by SRT. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN THERE A MONTH ,I BELIEVE FOR MY SELF NOW ,IT'S NOT GOOD. THE HOME TIME, THE PAY,it's a waste of a good drivers time, there are good honest trucking company's out there and SRT is not 1 of them.
